Bulk Rate Display

The per-pound cargo rate for a particular shipment depends on the following criteria:

Customer ID.
STD identifies the general public, such as walk-ins and low-volume or infrequent customers. Repeating customers, particularly those who regularly engage Amerijet for heavy or high-volume shipments have a volume rate agreement (VRA) with Amerijet.
City Pair
Rates vary depending on distances between the origin and destination stations.
Commodity
Some commodities require higher weights, particularly high-priority, perishable, or hazardous goods.
Weight
Generally, the price per pound drops incrementally when the shipment weighs over 100 and 1100 pounds. Some customers ship fully-loaded pallets of goods at a per-pallet rate.
Effective and Expiration dates
Occassionally rates become obsolete and are expired, as indicated by the expiration date. For example, Amerijet might discontinue service between a particular city pair.
A new rate can be used as of the effective date associated with that rate. For example, a new VRA customer can utilize the contractual rate as of the date the Volume Rate Agreement is signed and approved.

To view the rate applicable to a particular shipment, use option 2 or 3 on the menu for AS2002, Bulk Rate File Maintenance (Figure 1).

You can no longer print rates with AS2002 option 6. Use Option AS2014 to print bulk rates.

Notice that option 1 requires a password. Only authorized operators in Business Development can enter rates for a new VRA customer or city pair, change STD or VRA rates, or delete a rate.

Option 2 - Display Current/Future Bulk Rates

Option 2 enables you to display any rate that is in

Select AS2002 from any ACMS menu.
Select option 2.
On screen AS200202, press Enter to see STD rates or enter the Tender-By number of a VRA customer.
Enter the origin city in the FROM field and the destination city in the TO field.
The codes of those commodities that can be shipped between FROM and TO display just below the data-entry fields. Enter one of these commodity codes or press Enter for GEN (general).

Figure 2 shows the rates in the first weight break for STD bulk rates for an inbound flight from Port of Spain and Miami. The first weight break is 0 pounds, or the minimum. No matter how much the cargo weighs, it must cost at least the minimum amount to ship.

Press Enter to see the next weight break. For GEN commodity, the next weight break, 1, indicates the per pound rate from 1 pound to 100 pounds, for a shipment that exceeds the minimum rate. Each commodity has different weight breaks.
If your customer has an even larger shipment, press Enter as many times as needed to see the per-pound rate for increasingly heavy shipments. Typically, commodity GEN rates descrease for 100 to 1100 pounds, and again for shipments over 1100 pounds.
When you have displayed the rate you need, press the ESC key to back up so that you can enter a different commodity code, city pair, or customer. Figure 3 shows the rate for 1 to 100 pounds of commodity 0301, fresh fish from POS to MIA.

To exit the application, press F8 in the Customer No. field.

Option 3 - Display All Rates

You can browse through the rates for a particular customer number with option 3. This option displays every rate for every city pair and commodity combination available to that customer.

From AS2002, enter option 3.
Enter the customer Tender-By number or press Enter to see STD rates.
Enter 1 to display current rates. Enter 2 if you need view expired rates, for example to verify rates on an Airway Bill from the history file.

Figure 4 shows the first screenful of STD rate information, from ANU. Screens scroll alphabetically through city pairs.

Press Enter each time you want to display the next screenful of rates.
Press F8 at any time to exit the display screen.
You can select 2 to see expired rates, press ESC to enter a different customer number, or prss F8 again to exit the Display All function.

Printing Bulk Rates

Select AS2014 from any ACMS menu.
Select a report printer.
Enter STD or the Tender-By number of a VRA customer. Alternatively, press Enter to print rates for all customers, including STD.
Select a rate type based on effective and expiration dates. Choices are C,F, E, R, or N, for Current, Future, Expired, Renewable, Not Expiring. Alternatively, press Enter to print all rates, current, future, and expiring.
If prompted, enter the effective date as FROM and the expiration date as TO. Use 6 digits (MMDDYY). Alternatively, press Enter in the FROM field to print all date ranges.
Enter the From city and To city, or press Enter in these fields to select all city pairs.
Enter the commodity code or press Enter for all commodities.
Press Enter to confirm your choices. Your report will print on the printer you selected.

Figure 5 shows the setup for a report that will print current STD rates for all city pairs and commodities. Figure 6 shows an excerpt from the report.
